Recently, Professor Kang Guozheng, from the school of mechanics and engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, has been elected as the regional editor of International Journal of Fracture in view of his outstanding contribution and international academic influence in the field of fracture mechanics of materials and structures.

The International Journal of Fracture (https://www.springer.com/journal/10704) was founded in 1965 and is a well-known international journal in the field of mechanics, machinery and materials. It was published by Springer press, and has a SCI impact factor of 2.087 in 2019. The journal is ranked as zone 2 by the Journal Citation Report (JCR). The aim of this journal is to publish original analytical, numerical and experimental research progress, and to let people can have a better understanding of the macro and micro fracture behavior and mechanism of materials and their engineering significance.

Professor Kang Guozheng was elected as the regional editor of the International Journal of fracture, which will greatly enhance the international academic status and popularity of the mechanics discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University, and will also play a positive role in promoting the Southwest Jiaotong University. Professor Kang Guozheng currently is one of the three co-editors of the International Journals of Fatigue(IF: 4.369, zone 1 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), is also a leading international journal in the field of fatigue research , and the editorial board member of International Journal of Plasticity(IF: 6.490, zone 1 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) which is a top journal in the plastic mechanics field.

Professor Kang Guozheng is the leading talent of science and technology innovation of the "ten thousand people plan" of the central organization department, the special professor of "Yangtze River Scholar" of the Ministry of education, the winner of national outstanding youth fund, the leading talents in science and technology innovation of young and middle-aged the Ministry of science and technology, the expert enjoying special government allowance from the State Council, the "Humboldt research fellow" in Germany, the leader of Sichuan province academic and technical, the chief professor of Southwest Jiaotong University, and the member of professional instruct committee of mechanics of Ministry of Education. More than 300 papers have been published, of which more than 240 SCI papers have been cited more than 3000 times, and his H index is 34.
